Ismaelli House

During the 17th century, the noble family Ismaelli from Korčula, nobles of Hvar since 1597, erected their home. The house of the Ismaellis was not the centre of an estate as they did not own land on Vis like the other nobles of Hvar - but, instead, a site of trade and relaxation.

Originally a two-storey building, it was later expanded by another floor. It was built from finely cut ashlar blocks and covered by a four-eaved roof. On the first floor, on the axis of the building front turned towards the square, there is a balcony supported by three double consoles.

It is enclosed by a ˝double pear˝ balustrade and corner balusters that feature plant decorations. The balcony doors terminate with an arch that features relief flowers and a human head on the crown. The shape of the house is characterised by a 17th-century Baroque style.

The original layout of the building front on the ground floor and the interior of the house was comprehensively altered during the 19th century, and the Baroque elements of the interior from its era of construction have not remained preserved.

Ismaelli House is entered in the Register of Cultural Goods of the Republic of Croatia.
